How To Register For A Driving Test

This article includes services that allow applicants to register for three types of driving tests found in Rwanda. The tests are for the three driving licenses; definitive, supplementary, and provisional.

The purpose of these tests is to evaluate the applicant's ability to drive a motor vehicle, the ability to drive the specified vehicle of the additional category they are seeking, and the ability to understand road traffic rules and regulations. Rwanda's accepted and official driving license: A, A1, B, B1, C, D, D1, E, and F.

How to Register for the Definitive Driving Test

This service allows applicants to register for a definitive driving license test. The purpose of this test is to evaluate the applicant's ability to drive a motor vehicle. A practical test for these categories; A, A1, B, B1, and F. The service is provided by Rwanda National Police (RNP).

The processing time of this service is 1 day and its price is Rwf 10,000.

Prerequisites:

  • Applicants eligible for this service should be 18 years and above.

  • Applicants should have a national ID number.

  • Applicants should have passed the provisional driving test and given a provisional license number.

  • The definitive license expires and is renewed after 10 years.

Follow these simple steps to register for a definitive driving test:

1. Visit www.irembo.gov.rw  and under Police, click on Registration for Driving Test.

2. Select which service you want; " Registration for Driving Test - Definitive " and click on Apply.

3. Enter your Applicant Details  and Test Details . The applicant information is displayed on the right side of the page.

4. Click Next  to proceed.

5. Verify that the information is true, enter a phone number and/or email address , check the verification box, and click Submit .

6. A billing number/ID  (99….) will be generated for payment. Applicants can pay  using MTN Mobile Money or Airtel Money, BK App, BK Branches, BK Agents, or pay online  using VISA or MasterCard.

How to Register for the Supplementary Driving Test

This service allows applicants to register for a supplementary practical driving test. The purpose of the test is to assess the person's ability to drive the specified vehicle of the additional category they are seeking. The service is provided by Rwanda National Police (RNP).

The processing time of this service is 1 day and its price is Rwf 10,000.

Prerequisites:

  • Applicants eligible for this service should be 18 years and above.

  • Applicants should have a national ID number.

  • Applicants should have a valid definitive license number.

Follow these simple steps to register for a supplementary driving test:

1. Visit www.irembo.gov.rw  and under Police, click on Registration for Driving Test.

2. Select which service you want; " Registration for Driving Test - Supplementary " and click on Apply.

3. Enter your Applicant Details  and Test Details . The applicant information is displayed on the right side of the page. The current driving license is automatically generated.

4. Click Next to proceed.

5. Verify that the information is true, enter a phone number and/or email address , check the verification box, and click Submit .

6. A billing number/ID  (99….) will be generated for payment. Applicants can pay  using MTN Mobile Money, Airtel Money, BK App, BK Branches, BK Agents, or pay online  using VISA or MasterCard.

How to Register for the Provisional Driving Test

This service allows new applicants to register for provisional driving tests. Applicants do this theoretical test online, and it is provided in 3 languages: Kinyarwanda, English, and French. The service is provided by Rwanda National Police (RNP).

The processing time of this service is 1 day and its price is Rwf 5,000.

Prerequisites:

  • Applicants eligible for this service should be 16 years and above, but the provisional license can be retrieved at 18 years.

  • Applicants should have a National ID number.

  • The provisional license expires after 2 years but is renewed after 1 year.

Follow these simple steps to register for a provisional driving test:

1. Visit www.irembo.gov.rw  and under Police, click on Registration for Driving Test .

2. Select which service you want; " Registration for Driving Test – Provisional " and click on Apply .

3. Enter your Applicant Details  and Test Details . The applicant information is displayed on the right side of the page.

4. Click Next  to proceed.

5. Verify that the information is true, enter a phone number and/or email address , check the verification box, and click Submit .

6. A billing number/ID  (99….) will be generated for payment. Applicants can pay  using MTN Mobile Money, Airtel Money, BK App, BK Branches, BK Agents, or pay online  using VISA or MasterCard.

NOTE:  After applying and successfully paying via IremboGov, the Applicant receives an SMS/Email approving their test date and center for the driving test.
