I know a few of you guys who frequent this page live in NY. I bought a starcraft from another memeber here who had aquired two hulls but simply had paperwork for one...he stripped the one with out paperwork and was going to scrap it at the junk yard. i said sick accept it...
the path to find the original possessor or the terminal registrant went expressionless at the identify the other member purchased the boat....it was a restoration that got started, and then stooped, and left at a residence when the person moved...the new owner had it for a few years yet in the same status and unregistered...it was simply sitting on his belongings...he couldnt do anything with it. It got towed to a boat dealer who was going to attempt and finnish the resto...merely changed his mind....many years went by, then the dealer offered information technology for sale with no paperwork.
then nosotros cant go that road.
I called ny dvm in albany and was told a dvm 51B was what was needed..simply the instructions country, if i take endemic the boat less than i year the PREVIOUS possessor must file the DMV 51B!!
that aint happening.
sooo my last resort is to go with a new HULL ID application...
it is through the NEW YORK Land Office OF PARKS RECREATION AND Celebrated PRESERVATION, Bureau of marine and recreational vehicle...whew ...thats a mouthfull!
it looks promising until you get to the part where they say to have a all the reciepts for materials purchased to brand this boat for the inspector who will come to look at the boat to verify it is home made....
this form is too used for boats commercially made subsequently eleven-1-72 with no HIN present....
whatever suggestions?
if i say its a 1982 with no HIN, then he still might ask who the previouis owner was...which is a expressionless end
if i say i am buidling information technology from scratch, he might say..."it doesnt wait like that"

wellll.....I know this is far fetched.... I dont lie...period.... perchance i wont fully answer a question, or give and answer that actually wasnt addressed to the question asked...just just prevarication...nope.....got that fiddling isle to stand on for my whole life...not gonna requite information technology up....that said....the bill of auction I have if for belatedly february of this year.....and then id have to go back and ask the seller to counterfit the bill of sale to concluding year.,...when inm fact he might not take even had the boat himself then....
right now the VIN strip is off the boat...the consoles are out...it litteraly is just the hulls outer skin all around and the tiptop gunnel strips and safety trim.
ill throw away the vin strip and when asked just say 'patently it is long gone"
it seems in that location is a situation where y'all can ask for a hull id number for a boat made afterward 1972 merely doesnt currently accept a HIN.
in that scenario...there is no time limit for owning the boat...and information technology currently isnt traceable...I approximate the bill of auction is proof i didnt steal the boat....
I was simply hoping someone had been through information technology and could tell me how information technology went down.

When I purchased a basket example Starcraft hull that was stripped and going to exist scrapped hither in VT........ I took the bill of auction to the DMV and since it did not accept a HIN (lost in the stripping I guess only my hull is a 1986) the DMV said I could register it as a 1970 and they issued a number. I approximate 1970 was the magic number that day.

If its non impossible, they sure make information technology as close to that as possible.
Over the years, with all the Body of water-Doos I've been through (commonly bought out of state), I've had to practise my fair share of "questionable" things to become something past NYSDMV. Somewhen, I just learned that it was usually non worth the effort and hassle to buy toys with no documentation.
I respect your moral stand, Bob, and not wanting to flat out lie. Just, if you lot don't, yous're likely screwed. My (illegal) proffer is that if you absolutely want to go forward with registering this boat, you lot acquire another gunkhole'south documentation (similar twelvemonth, style, brand, etc is all-time), swap HIN strips(not admittedly necessary), and use that to annals. Finding the suitable donor gunkhole, now that is the tricky part.
